I’m a video freelancer, ballroom dancer, and passionate about productivity. I've lived in the North Carolina Triangle since 2005.
Currently, I work in video production for broadcast and freelance on the side. Being proactive is essential in my line of work. However, the most valuable skill on set is problem solving, which I honed while working as a computer technician.
I believe video production is not only fun. But essential today more than ever before. With screens becoming more prevalent than ever, providing quality video content is essential. I'm lucky to contribute to that.
I worked at The Computer Cellar from early 2018 to 2021. I enjoyed my time here. I loved the camaraderie and freedom a small business offers, as well as the invaluable lessons I learned in computer hardware/software. For example, I expanded my workflow efficiency and helped others with their computer troubles. I will always look back fondly on this place and use what I learned every day.
I started ballroom dancing in 2015. It's become so much more than just a hobby. I've grown so much because of dance. It's kept me fit and I wouldn't be as happy as I am without it.
Having become silver level in international latin and standard. I am lucky enough live in an area rich with opportunities to dance and participate in competitions up and down the east coast. Dancing has been a big part of my life for so long. It's kept me grounded whenever times got tough.
I'll always cherish the memories and friends that ballroom has given me.
My father has worked in video production since I was born. I've always had an interest in film and a rare opportunity to work on sets from an early age. It was in 2021 I decided to take the plunge and go all in on video production. So far, it's been great!
A career in video production requires more than just good videography skills. Building a brand, networking, and accounting knowledge are all necessary to succeed in this field. My goal is to understand every aspect of video production. I hope to continue to learn and gain new skills throughout my career.
Finding better ways to do things always brings me great joy. It feels like I discovered a secret shortcut in a video game I was trying to speedrun. From deciding how to tackle my workload for the day, to learning new study techniques or taking a course on how to optimize my google searches, I love every second of it.
Currently I am using the knowledge I gained from Ali Abdaal, a doctor from Cambridge. He taught me how to get rid of procrastination. I also finished reading the book called “Make it Stick” by Peter Brown, Henry Roediger III, and Mark McDaniel, where they dive into the best way to learn and study for anything. I am also reading through the book “Deep Work” by Cal Newport, which taught me the importance of working without distraction.
For now, I am focusing on growing my career in video production. Since 2021 I’ve been working solely in that field. I've traveled across the United States to Arizona, Texas, New York, Florida, etc. I've worked with great organizations such as John Hopkins, Fidelity, Bloomberg, UNC and Duke Hospitals, and even my local Town Hall.
Video production is the closest I’ve come to finding a passion. I always enjoy the work I do, the people I meet, and the skills I learn.
I hope to grow my career in video production so that my work impacts people for the better while expanding my toolset and skills. I’ve learned a lot these past 3 years and I’m ready to produce higher quality content at a more consistent pace. I also hope to recruit friends to produce fun videos and podcasts on the side.
